THE sun shone on Bracknell town centre during two days of summer-themed events.
A range of activities and stalls were available for free on Friday and Saturday during the Love Bracknell, Love Summer Livin' event organised by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP).
Attractions included children's circus activities, demonstrations by celebrity chefs Sophie Wright and Steve Walpole, stalls with home and garden improvement and sustainability tips and refreshments.
Helen Barnett, BRP marketing manager, said: "I was thrilled to see so many people taking part in the summer fun, the atmosphere was fantastic."
Visitors were also able to enjoy the display of flowers around the town centre.
The weekend before, representatives from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) also came to judge the displays created as part of the Bracknell In Bloom campaign.
Ms Barnett, who is also chairwoman of the Bracknell In Bloom committee, made up of BRP and Bracknell Forest and Town Councils, said of the visit: "All the hard work really paid off and although it rained, the flowers in the town centre still looked stunning and the borough was beautiful.
"All we can do now is cross our fingers and wait for the results. In the meantime, everyone who helped to make the borough and town centre look so great should be extremely proud."
Judges Mike Gass and Peter Goff were taken on a tour of the borough to see flowers, biodiversity schemes, allotments, parks, schools and residential areas. Places they visited included St Michael and St Mary Magdalene Church in Easthampstead, Waymead Day Centre, Lily Hill Park, The Pines Primary School, Campion House and Bryony House.
They also saw presentations from Ranelagh School's gardening club, Bracknell Conservation Volunteers and Sandy Lane Primary School, plus a video showing other achievements.
David Harris, landscape services manager for Bracknell Forest Council, said: "I am very proud to be part of the Bracknell In Bloom campaign and I am confident that on the judging day we presented Bracknell in a very positive light. I would like to thank all the community groups and our local business partners for their continued support."
The campaign is supported by organisations including Syngenta, Bentalls, Easthampstead Park Conference Centre, Bracknell Forest Homes, Courtney Coaches, Bracknell market, Bracknell Forest Homes, Ringways, Homebase, Pouncetts Flowers and Bracknell Gardening Club.
