RESIDENTS are being asked to get creative to help encourage recycling in the area.
Over the next seven months households in Royal Borough will have their black and purple recycle bins replaced with blue ones. The borough is running a competition asking residents to find the most ingenious ways to re-use the left over boxes.
Cllr Phill Bicknell said: "This competition is a bit of fun, giving everyone a chance to let their imaginations go wild, but with the practical purpose of emphasising the importance of reusing materials and items."
The new recycling scheme will introduce a RecycleBank points system which rewards homeowner for recycling.
Prizes for the most creative uses of the old boxes are 500 RecycleBank points for the winning idea, 350 for the runner up and 150 for third place.
Points can be used for discounts at leisure facilities and restaurants in the borough, Marks and Spencer, Legoland Windsor and more.
To enter send residents should send their idea with a picture to waste.unit@rbwm.gov.uk or FAO Waste Management, York House, Sheet Street, Windsor, SL4 1DD.
Any unwanted boxes can be handed in a Stafferton Way civic amenity site in Maidenhead.
