Multiple reasons to run

TEACHERS, pupils and parents will be pounding the streets of Reading in memory of a school governor.

More than 100 people linked with St Francis Catholic Primary School will be taking part in the Reading Half Marathon and the Green Park Challenge this month.

The St Francis Joggers are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

A total of 14 people have volunteered to run the half marathon while 97, including 63 children, will run the three kilometre course in Reading on Sunday, March 21.

The Joggers were formed last year in memory of school governor Andy D'Agata who died while taking part in a cycle race in France.

As well as running for charity, the Coronation Road pupils will be exercising their brains in a "Spell-a-thon" to raise extra cash for The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The "Spell-a-thon" will be held on Friday, March 19, which will also be Orange Day when everyone will be encouraged to ditch their normal uniform and wear the orange colours of The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

This year the St Francis Joggers decided to select The Multiple Sclerosis Society which provides a range of service for anyone touched by the condition. The Maidenhead, Slough and District Multiple Sclerosis Society has a trained team of volunteers who provide advice, support, and practical help.
