Dynamic duo: Richard Pilgrim and Martyn Parker are officially co-heads at Charters

TWO faces at a Sunningdale school have been made permanent.

Martyn Parker and Richard Pilgrim have been appointed as co-headteachers of Charters School from Easter 2010.

The pair have been working as acting co-headteachers since the retirement of Dame Marcia Twelftree last summer.

Mark Cooper, chair of governors, said: "Following Dame Marcia Twelftree's retirement last summer, Martyn and Richard have both been jointly leading the school with an innovative co-headship partnership.

"I am very confident that Charters is in a strong position to achieve even greater success in the future following another 'Outstanding' Ofsted judgement."

Mr Pilgrim, a keen musician, joined the Charters Road school as a physics teacher in 1984 and progressed through the ranks to become deputy head in 1999.

The father-of-three said: "Charters is a wonderful place in which to learn and the school is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to achieve personal success."

He believes that well-qualified, enthusiastic and motivating subject specialists as playing a key role in inspiring young people to want to achieve.

Mr Parker, who worked in local government before training as a teacher, joined the school as deputy headteacher in 2000.

he is passionate about ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy and achieve at school by experiencing a wide range of curriculum and extra-curriculum opportunities.

Mr Parker, who has two children, set up a school book group that regularly meets to review a range of modern novels as well as a music group that explores contemporary, jazz and classical music.
