GROUP EFFORT: Charities Christopher's Smile and Georgie's Fund take part in a walk.
FAMILIES and friends wore hats, caps and wigs in a charity walk recognising International Childhood Cancer Day.
More than 40 walkers took part in the event, at Virginia Water lake, and raised more than £100 for the charities Georgie's Fund and Christopher's Smile.
Children rode bikes and families brought dogs to the four-and-a-half mile walk on Sunday, February 21.
Karen Capel, who set up Christopher's Smile in memory of her son who died from a rare form of cancer, said: "It was great fun and the theme was everyone had to wear a hat, cap or wig. We were lucky with the weather!"
"As the years go by you hope more and more people will get involved and help raise more funds and awareness."
Both charities represent childhood cancer and focus on new treatments.
Tania Hayhoe, of Georgie's Fund, said: "Despite the weather it was a good turnout and also nice to make some new friends and raise money." Another walk will be held on April 18.
