HONOURED: Dame Marcia Twelftree at the investiture with her husband Mike Twelftree
A VISIT to Windsor Castle was in order for an education champion who was made a Dame in the New Year's Honours.
Dame Marcia Twelftree, headteacher of Charters School in Sunningdale for 12 years before she retired last year, met The Queen at the formal investiture ceremony on Friday last week to be honoured for her services to education, including Government advisory work.Dame Marcia said: "My family and I had a fantastic day. Her Majesty was very interested in the school and the fact that she had opened it 50 years ago and was very warm in her congratulations.
"Windsor Castle was a wonderful setting for the investiture. I felt extremely proud to be honoured in this way and will treasure the memories of a very special day."
