PEDAL power was the key to raising money for an African school.
Nearly 250 Charters School students, staff and parents took part in a virtual cycling challenge of 8,000km from the school to its partner school, Holy Family Combined School in South Africa.
The pupils took more than 20 Trixter fitness bikes to Ascot Racecourse on Saturday, February 20.
Steve Harvey, director of sport, said: "It was a great effort by everyone and we'd like to thank Ascot Racecourse for providing the location, Betfair for their £1,000 pledge and all the staff, parents and pupils - we could not have done it without you all.
"Everyone had a great time raising an amazing amount of money for our partner school in South Africa."
After eight hours of cycling the group raised nearly £3,400 and Betfair pledged £1,000 to give the school a huge start to its fundraising.
