GREEN-FINGERED youngsters are being invited to show off their imaginative skills by creating celebrities using potatoes.
Staff at Wyevale Binfield Garden Centre in Forest Road, Binfield, are running the competition for children aged four to 11 as part of the centre's Grow Your Own Potatoes Event running from Saturday, March 20 until Sunday, March 28.
Peter Leach, manager of the garden centre, said: "It is a fun idea and we hope as many youngsters as possible enter.
"We will have the models on display in the garden centre and will ask customers to vote for their favourites via a ballot box.
"Although we don't have any hard and fast rules we are looking for models of famous people such as politicians and pop stars."
The first prize winners in each of the two age categories, those aged four to seven and those aged eight to 11, will receive a certificate and a £5 garden centre gift voucher.
Each winner's school will receive a WCF Phoenix bag of seed potatoes, a Burgon and Ball triple pack round potato planter and a Miracle-Gro Organic Choice potato and vegetable gro-sac to fill the potato planters.
The runner up in each age category will also receive a certificate.
Models will be displayed anonymously for one week from Monday, March 22 and customers will be asked to vote for their favourites.
Entry forms are available from the garden centre until Sunday, March 21 and the closing date for entries is 4pm that day.
