FOUR students are celebrating being offered places at Oxford University.

Three of the Year 13 students at Ranelagh School, Ranelagh Drive, hope to head to the prestigious university this September, while one will take a gap year before continuing his studies, all subject to gaining the required three As at A-level.

Georgina Morrison, 18, has been offered a place at University College to study history and Rebecca Wyatt, 17, hopes to head to St Catherine's College to study geography. Tom Kennington, 17, hopes to study mathematics and computer science at University College and Paul Manley, 18, achieved an organ scholarship to study music at Queen's College, but will work as assistant organist at Chichester Cathedral for a year before taking up the place.

Headteacher Kathy Winrow said: "This is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of them. They have worked hard and have contributed hugely to Ranelagh during their time in the school.

"They deserve their success. We wish them well for the future."
