THE family of a 21-year-old man who died in a car crash say he remains the "light of our hearts".

Kyle McCants died in the B3034 Forest Road, Binfield when the red Alfa Romeo 147 that he was a passenger in hit a telegraph pole at 12.20am on Monday.

In a statement released today, his family said: "On February 15, 2010, our son, brother, and best friend was lost forever. The light within Kyle McCants, however, can never be lifted away from our hearts.

"He was a young man who possessed an extraordinary passion for life. He completely and unreservedly loved his family, his friends, and his dog Jake. "The outpouring of huge emotion at his passing confirmed to us that his friends loved him too. Kyle will be missed. We miss him already, and we always will. We only hope that we will learn Kyle's lesson and treat our loved ones with the same love and respect.

"Kyle worked locally as a bar tender and not only loved his job, but also the friends he worked with. He was a fun-loving, friendly, happy lad who will be sorely missed by all his friends and family."

Mr McCant was born in Houston, Texas on July 17, 1988, then received a Canadian passport aged three and later became a British citizen. His family said he was "very proud" to be part of three countries but had demonstrated his loyalty to Britain in becoming a citizen.

Anyone who saw the crash near the Wyevale garden centre or has information about it is asked to contact PC Jon Conning of Gerrards Cross Roads Policing base via 0845 8 505 505 or to call charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a black car who stopped at the scene.

A 26-year-old man from Hertfordshire who was driving the Alfa Romeo was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on bail until April 30.
