BRACKNELL MP Andrew MacKay has revealed that he will be joining a leading public relations company after the general election.
The long-standing Tory MP is stepping down following the election after being asked to repay more than £30,000 of his expenses.
Now he has been unveiled as an international consultant and strategic adviser to international PR firm Burson-Marsteller.
The company says that he will bring a wealth of policy, Government and business experience to its public affairs team and has a lot of experience in global affairs.
Mr MacKay said: "After leaving Parliament I want to be a part of a winning team that is assisting global businesses face their strategic communications challenges and Burson-Marsteller provides a fantastic opportunity to do this. I considered a number of consultancies and decided on Burson-Marsteller because of its range of international clients, its campaigning approach and the quality of the team."
His contract explicitly states that he will not be taking up his role as a consultant until after the dissolution of Parliament and will have no contact with the company's clients or prospective clients until then.
Burson-Marsteller UK CEO Matt Carter said: "I am delighted that Andrew will be joining Burson-Marsteller when he stands down as an MP. He will bring a great deal of experience and knowledge of the challenges business face both at home and across the world. He will add further senior expertise to a team with already strong representation across all the main parties which means that we are uniquely placed to advise clients whatever the make-up of the new Government after the election."

I thought Andrew was a very good MP. He helped a load of people, and you can see from the government Hansard site how much he did for Bracknell.
Shame about the expences.

Andrew was an outstanding MP who gave to the local community for 25 years and is highly respected. He was supportive and well informed. Good luck Andrew.

This man has behaved disgracefully. He has got off lightly and lost the respect of many people in Bracknell. He did not even have the decency to resign.

Wonderful!
Burson-Marstellar is exactly right for this man it has a history of sleazy nasty clients.
It managed the PR against the human rights activists for the brutal Argentine junta that abducted tortured and murdered hundreds of people.
However hasn't David Cameron just been advocating a crack down on grease the palm merchants - sorry lobbyists -sorry PR consultants?

I can't believe some of the comments above. The man did NOTHING for the local people or area preferring instead to play 'Mr Politician'. He is full of empty promises and lies upon lies. He didn't even live in this area!
It is a major disappointment that the Conservatives didn't kick him out of the party when the full extend of his expenses scandal were revealed. Unfortunately they will pay the price this up and coming election.
Even when found out, he resisted paying the expenses back. Simply put the man is disgrace.
I agree with WJH (above). The man is the right person for Burson Marstellar. Let's hope they keep an eye on his expenses!

U can't believe that the person signed as "me" has such courage as to slander and not even identify temselvrs. Clearly we are giving you tonnes of credit mate. Just like the rest. Dishing it out is easy. I bet you would have done exactly the same if the opportunity was put before you.
