THERE were no celebrations for Sir Cliff Richard when the verdict was revealed on his new £30,000 conservatory, built without planning permission.
The singer lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate in June against Runnymede Borough Council's (RBC) enforcement notice to demolish the addition to his £1.6m home on the Wentworth Estate. It said the structure was too big and had not been given planning permission.
Cllr Geoff Woodger, chairman of RBC's planning committee, said: "The inspectorate agreed the council's approach was fair and reasonable and Sir Cliff must comply with the national policy on extending a building, which says he has to remove the conservatory."
The 5.2mx4.2m conservatory on the three-bedroom house in Pinewood Road was built in November 2006.
