A POLICEWOMAN has been commended for her work with Broadmoor Hospital in Crowthorne.
Detective Constable Donna Pearce was presented with a Commendation from Thames Valley Police at a ceremony at Windsor Guildhall on Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Simon Bowden, commander of Bracknell police area, praised Det Con Pearce's "outstanding performance and dedication to partnership working" and said: "For the past three years, Det Con Pearce has been a nominated liaison officer for Broadmoor Hospital in Crowthorne.
"She deals with the majority of crimes reported by the hospital, which mostly involve vulnerable victims and offenders.
"This requires a high degree of technical expertise, together with a measured and proportionate response.
"She has developed an excellent level of trust between Thames Valley Police and West London Mental Health Trust (WLMHT) and paved the way for restorative justice to play an important part in reducing offending within Broadmoor.
"Det Con Pearce has negotiated with the Crown Prosecution Service to provide a dedicated Broadmoor lawyer, who reviews every case and provides feedback to the hospital.
"She has also built an excellent working relationship with senior staff at Broadmoor and has been the subject of letters of praise highlighting her extensive knowledge of staff and patients."
Det Con Pearce, who will now be working with Bracknell's Priority Crime Team, was presented with her Commendation by Chief Superintendent David Lewis, commander of Berkshire East Basic Command Unit.
Mike Humphrey, director of security at Broadmoor Hospital, which is run by WLMHT, said: "Det Con Pearce is a dedicated and professional police officer and we are delighted to hear of this commendation - it is well deserved."
He added that the hospital wishes her all the best in her future career and said: "We are grateful for the work she has done with us at Broadmoor and congratulate her on this achievement." Around 30 awards were presented to police officers, staff and members of the public, including a mum and daughter, Rachel Oakley, 41, and Holly Wise, 20, who rushed to help a man badly beaten up in Bracknell town centre and later gave evidence at his attacker's trial.
In addition, member of the public Maureen Waller was honoured for managing the front counters at police stations across the area during a period of unprecedented staff sickness.
A Commendation was also given to PC Marius York, neighbourhood specialist officer for Bracknell town centre, for his outstanding performance as the anti-social behaviour officer for the borough.
