POLICE officers have been commended for their actions which led to the conviction of a man who kidnapped and sexually assaulted teenage girls in Bracknell.

More than 40 officers, staff and partnership representatives were recognised for the work they undertook as part of an investigation which resulted in Terry Michael Bryant, now 42, of Waverley Road, Tottenham, being given an indeterminate sentence at Reading Crown Court on October 15, 2010.

Chief inspector Simon Bowden, detective constable Luke Simms, and Ian Boswell from Bracknell Forest Council were among those honoured at a ceremony at Bracknell Leisure Centre in Bagshot, Bracknell, on Tuesday.

On September 3 2010, Bryant admitted 14 charges relating to offences he had committed against three teenage girls in Bracknell during November 2009 and May 2010.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of kidnap; two counts of threats to kill; four counts of sexual assault; one count of robbery; one count of rape; one count of making indecent images; one count of possessing indecent images; and one count of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He pleaded not guilty to two counts of false imprisonment and one count of making threats to kill.
