Memory Walk for Alzheimer's Society

WALKERS will be taking steps to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society on Sunday, September 12.

Anyone is welcome to take part in the annual Memory Walk, with a choice of a 2km, 1km or wheelchair-suitable route.

It will take place at 2pm at St George’s School in Wells Lane, Ascot, along with fun activities organised by the school’s staff and pupils.

Clare Heffill, of the Alzheimer’s Society in Bracknell, said: “There will be plenty to occupy those people who prefer not to walk but would like to enjoy an afternoon of fun including coconut shy, tombola, Ascot races, bouncy castle, refreshments, cake stall and much more. There will also be a Memory Fence for friends and family to peg their personal memories on and reflect why they are taking part.”

The organisers hope to raise more than £3,000 to support local services offered by the society, including a drop-in advice session at The Look In Community Cafe in Broadway, Bracknell from 10am-noon on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The society also hopes to start a Singing for the Brain group in October.
