Josie hopes for pageant crown

THE only Bracknell competitor for the Miss Great Britain pageant is appealing for text votes to help her campaign.

Josie Conyard, 21, from Wildridings, is taking part in the Miss Reading Town heat of the competition Thursday next week, where text votes will count towards competitors getting through to the final in London in November.

Former Brakenhale student Josie, who works as a beauty adviser at the Yves Saint Laurent counter in Bentalls in Bracknell town centre, said: “I’ve been interested in modelling for quite a while so I thought it would be good to go for something and get into it a bit.

“It’s not all abut looks at all. It’s to do with young women who have done a lot of things, it’s about listening to people and giving everybody a chance.”

Some of Josie’s friends will be coming to support her at the competition, which will take place at the West Wing arts centre in Slough. There will be three fashion rounds - swimwear, clubwear and evening wear - as well as a live interview.

Josie said: “I’ve not been in a pageant before but I’m looking forward to it.”

To vote for Josie, text “Josie” to 81118 for £1 plus the standard network charge. Lines close on Thursday, September 2.
