A TRIP to the beach for disabled youngsters was saved after a donation from a marketing firm and its clients.

Peapods, a parent-run support group for the children and their families, feared it would have to cancel the annual outing due to lack of funds until BWP Group came forward with £1,200.

Gaye Phillips, Peapods' event manager and a trustee, said: "It was a really lovely day. BWP Group are absolutely wonderful for giving us such a memorable day out. Paying for coaches, carers and everything else means that our families get a true break and can relax in the sun. It's an event that families ask for year after year and we were happy to give them it thanks to BWP Group."

Peapods holds regular meetings within Wokingham borough but caters for families in Bracknell and Reading as well.

Fifteen families went on the trip to Avon Beach at Mudeford Quay, Dorest.

BWP Group asked loyal clients if they would allow the company to donate to Peapods the money that it would have spent on Christmas presents.

It meant that the company was able to provide wheelchair accessible coaches, a picnic and people to run activities on the beach for the children while their families had a break.

Richard Beasley, CEO of BWP Group, which has offices in London and Maidenhead, said: "We feel very privileged to be involved with Peapods. It is a unique organisation that does incredible work in the community and we wanted to provide the charity with something tangible that would make a real difference to the families.

"We were pleased to hear that everyone had a great time in the sun and we hope that everybody took wonderful memories home with them."

Peapods runs a family Saturday Club from 10am-12pm on the second Saturday of the month at Twyford Scout headquarters in Loddon Hall Road, Twyford.
