THE family of missing 83-year-old Leslie Frewen have urged anyone who knows where he is to come forward.

Mr Frewen, a former soldier and Post Office worker, was last seen at 3.45pm on Sunday, August 15 in County Lane, Warfield, heading towards Tesco. He is white with cropped grey hair and glasses and was wearing a fawn zipper jacket, navy blue trousers and black lace-up shoes.

His family, including his wife Jean, two daughters and four grandchildren aged between 12 and 18, said in a statement this afternoon (Thursday): "Jean, Leigh, Erika, their family and friends would like your help in trying to trace Leslie Edward Frewen, aged 83.

"We miss him and love him very much. We are desperate to know that he is safe and we want him back home with us as soon as possible.

"If you have seen him, know of his whereabouts or have any information that may help us to locate him, we urge you please to contact the police."

Mr Frewen was an Army cadet and then served with the Grenadier Guards from 1945-1948. He returned to civilian life for eight years before rejoining the Army in 1956 as a member of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

He left REME in 1967 and joined the Post Office, where he worked until his retirement in 1988.

Search dogs and mounted police have been searching Warfield mobile home park, where Mr Frewen's home is in The Plateau. Police have also asked residents to check sheds, outbuildings, garges and underneath mobile homes for signs of Mr Frewen, who is a diabetic.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505, quoting reference number: URN 1352 15/8.
