TEENAGERS raised nearly £900 for good causes through organising a summer festival.

Sixth formers at Easthampstead Park Community School in Great Hollands arranged a day of entertainment, raising £881 to support people with asthma and to refurbish their school common room.

Around 600 young people attended the event on Wednesday last week, including ex Year 13 students who left last year plus current Year 11 students who will be joining the Sixth Form in September.

Local bands played, including Trailing Wake, Funkstik, Hey! I'm A Movie Star, Dead On Three and Streetfight Silence, who won the last year's Battle Of The Bands contest in Wokingham. Liz Best, PA to the headteacher and deputy headteacher, said: "The bouncy castle, soak the teacher game, raffles and races drew in the crowds and started an exciting new phase of fundraising."

Some of the money will help the fundraising efforts of maths teacher and Sixth Form tutor Tony Jones, who will be running the London Marathon next year to support people with asthma.
