SIXTH form students will get the chance to grill the candidates bidding to be Bracknell's next MP - including one from the British National Party.

Six candidates for the next parliamentary election have been invited to the Youth Question Time event organised by Easthampstead Park Community School for sixth formers and college students from across the borough.

Gordon Cunningham, headteacher at the Great Hollands school, said: "This exciting and groundbreaking event is organised and run by a member of our sixth form head team, Andrew Best.

"It will raise political awareness among the student community and give them opportunity to hear views from across the political spectrum."

The panellists who will be speaking on Wednesday, March 24, at 7.30pm are Dr Phillip Lee for the Conservatives, John Piasecki for Labour, Ray Earwicker for the Liberal Democrats, David Young for the Greens, Murray Barter for the UK Independence Party and Mark Burke for the British National Party (BNP).

They will each be given five minutes to speak about their party, with a further two minutes to respond to pre-seen questions put forward by the students.

There will then be an opportunity for further questions and more discussion, chaired by Mr Cunningham.

The event at the school theatre is for sixth formers plus college students aged 18-21, many of whom will be voting for the first time in this Spring's election.

Students who wish to attend must email bracknellyouthquestiontime@gmail.com by Friday, March 12, and can also submit questions for the candidates.

The Mayor of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Bob Wade, and the Mayoress, Maggie Wade, are also due to attend the event.

Bracknell's current MP Andrew MacKay will be standing down at the next election having served over 25 years.
