HEALTH bosses will discuss the future of the Ascot Birth Centre at a private meeting.
The Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust board meeting will be held in Slough today (Thursday).
The birth centre at Heatherwood Hospital in London Road has remained closed since September when it shut its doors suddenly due to long-term staff sickness.
Chief Executive Philippa Slinger has since questioned the viability of the centre because it only carries out about 35 births a month.
Following the meeting a decision will be made by the Trust and NHS Berkshire PCT - the commissioning body for the county - about the future of the centre.
