CHURCH members are calling on its community for support.

All Saints' Church Ascot, has launched a Friends scheme to organise fundraising events for the 19th century building's upkeep.

Members are inviting everyone in the community to an open meeting on Sunday (January 29) at 2.30pm, when a committee will be set up. They are also trying to get in touch with people who used to be part of the congregation and have moved away, as well as people who have an interest in the church's architecture.

Pat Gunton, a member of the Friends of All Saints' Church team, said: "This gives people an opportunity to be part of the church continuing on."

The meeting will be held at the church in London Road on Sunday from 2.30pm and a concert by the church's director of music - organist Christ Goowin and violinist Linda Hannah - will begin at 4pm.

Call 01344 884686 to find out more or request interest in attending the meeting.

Visit www.all-saints-ascot.org for more about the church.
