Plans to transform a segment of the Bath Road include 291 new homes and a basement car park.

Mackenzie Homes have revealed plans to redevelop part of Bath Road, Slough, which are to be put forward to Slough Borough Council.

Currently home to a shopping parade and a car showroom, the brownfield site is to be transformed into a mix of varying levels of accommodation, with the tallest building set to be 14 storeys tall.

Of the 291 homes, 29 (nine per cent) will be studios and 136 (47 per cent) will be one-bedroom apartments.

The rest of the property will consist of two and three-bedroom apartments.

Residents will have use of 203 parking spaces.

Mackenzie Homes state that the aim of the proposed plans is to: "Meet growing demand for urban living in Slough, as well as delivering improvements to public realm, enhanced landscaping and connections to the Cippenham Recreation Ground from Bath Road.

"The ambition is to create a new, sustainable neighbourhood and a catalyst for the wider regeneration along Bath Road."

Locals will benefit from "improved pedestrian links" and "landscaping", while 300 local jobs will be created in the construction process.

Original plans for the development were submitted to the council in December 2021.

Since then, Slough Borough Council have raised concern regarding the plans harming the character and appearance of the area.

The council requested many buildings reduced their storey level as they would be too "imposing". In many cases, there was a requested storey reduction of two floors from the original proposals.

Mackenzie Homes are now putting forward new plans which have been "substantially amended", with an outcome of "more sensitive, high-quality architectural proposals".
