A flood warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for the Colne Brook in Colnbrook and residents are being advised to take immediate action.

Flooding is expected for the Colne Brook in Colnbrook including the surrounding areas of Horton and Wraysbury.

Heavy rain has been falling in the Colne Brook catchment area and further rainfall is forecast overnight.

The Colne Brook has already risen and is expected to rise further.

Properties and low lying areas around Colnbrook, including Horton and Wraysbury, may start to flood imminently.

Environment Agency staff are operating the sluice gates at Horton Mill in a bid to reduce river levels.

Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in all these areas.

Residents are strongly urged to take action now whilst remaining safe.

The situation will be closely monitored throughout the day and any updates will be communicated to residents through our social media channels.

Action can include –

*Installing flood defence or sandbags

*Moving property, particularly electrical items, off the floor or even move them from the ground floor to the first floor if possible.

*Charging mobile phones to be able to keep up to date with Envronment Agency notifications.

*Do not venture out into flood water

If affected residents feel unsafe they can leave a property before it floods, however Covid lockdown restrictions still apply regarding not meeting or staying overnight with family members or friends.

Council sandbags will be used to create barriers around strategic infrastructure, like electrical sub stations, to allow as many people as possible to remain in their own homes. The council does not supply any other sandbags.
