A KNIFE amnesty is taking place across Berkshire this week.
From Tuesday, September 18 to Monday, September 24, Thames Valley Police is holding a knife surrender at police stations across the region to encourage members of the public to safely dispose of any type of knife or bladed article.
The aim of the operation is to remove dangerous weapons from the street, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.
Officers will also be holding a number of activities during the week, which will include the use of knife detection arches and engagement with schools and retailers.
Knife surrender bins will be placed at the front counters in 16 police stations, including Bracknell, Loddon Valley and Reading.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "If you are worried about knife crime in your area or if you want to speak to anyone about a specific concern then please do get in touch.
"You can contact us online, call 101 or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
