Next Friday will be a special one for staff and customers at Virginia Water's Glass House hair salon in Station Approach as they celebrate its 20th birthday

It was in 1998 that two young hairstylists working at the Runnymede Hotel seized an opportunity to go into business on their own.

Tracey Clarke's dad was Virginia Water's butcher and when he retired she and her work colleague Cathy Perkins moved in and set up a hair salon of their own.

Over the years the eight seat salon has expanded to become a 16 seater, as the two combined their roles as mums to two children each with ensuring their customers left the salon looking their best.

Tracey is married to Richard and has two children George and Maddie. She is currently in Australia with her family but Cathy is happily carrying on their joint enterprise.

She is married to Dean, who runs his own breakdown company. The couple have two children Chloe, 24 and James, 18.

She said: "We are so grateful for the special client relationship we have developed over the past two decades. Many have become friends and we thank you all for your loyalty and support.

"To be a successful business also means having incredible people in your team. We have been lucky enough to work alongsidee the creative, fun and passionate people that make up the Glass House family."

Friends and clients are all invited to pop in for some Friday Fizz next week on September 14 to help celebrate the anniversary in style.
