The family of a man who died on the road works site at Runnymede Roundabout has spoken of their devastation at his loss.

The tragedy happened at 12.50am on Friday, June 1 when Daniel Gooch, 40, was fatally hurt in a collision with plant machinery at the site. Mr Gooch's identity was formally revealed on Wednesday after an inquest was opened and adjourned.

He lived at Wisbech in Norfolk. His family has issued a statement, saying: "We cannot begin to describe our devastation, following the loss of Daniel. "Daniel is our adored son, father, partner, brother, uncle and friend. He will be forever loved and missed by us all. The messages of love, sympathy and condolence have meant so very much to us.

"In the weeks and months to follow, we hope to understand what circumstances preceded the accident that lead to Daniel losing his life."

A full inquest will take place at a later date. The Health and Safety Executive is investigating.
