A GROUP of volunteers helped spruce up the centre of a village last Thursday, September 21.

Thirteen people gathered together for the two-hour litter pick in Sunningdale which saw streets within a mile radius of Waitrose in London Road tended to.

This included the A30, Broomhall Lane, car parks and the wooded area behind the Railway Station.

Waitrose provided the group with the bin bags and even put on a spread of refreshments for the tired and thirsty workers afterwards.

Organiser, resident Rosemarie Nash, who regularly carries out litter picks with friends, pulled the 13 randomly together including ground staff from Coworth Park Hotel in Blacknest Road, and Savills Estate Agents in London Road.

Mrs Nash, of Sunningdale, said: "It is very rewarding to end up with all the bags of rubbish - sometimes it is unbelievable how much you find.

"I feel very strongly when litter is being thrown from cars into bushes and on to the pavements and roads."

She added: "It (the morning) went really well."

Sam Pinder-White, sales manager from Coworth Park, who also took part, said: "Coworth Park loves to support the local community.

"It was such a great morning where the community spirit shone through. We are very looking forward to helping Rosemarie again in the future’."
