WE might be basking in highs of up to 29 celsius, but heavy downpours are on the way.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, which will be in place from 6am on Thursday, July 6 until 6am on Friday, July 7.

A spokeman for the Met office said thunderstorms are likely.

They added: "While these storms may miss many places, where they do develop intense downpours are likely, bringing the threat of sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses. Lightning and hail may be additional hazards."
