A FORTNIGHT of activities and performances is due to entertain the children of Maidenhead this Easter holidays.

The Jump In! Family Arts Festival is the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts' annual celebration of child and adult friendly creativity.

Kicking things off on April 4 and 5 at 11.30am and 2pm, the acclaimed children’s book Wow! Said the Owl will bring the 'wow-wow-world' of colours alive on stage with a curious little owl who is determined to stay awake to see what day light brings.

The show is suitable for ages two plus and features a blend of beautiful story-telling, puppetry and music.

In a similar vein, a puppet-featuring retelling of a fairytale classic runs at 11.30am and 2pm on April 13.

Jack lives on a small farm with his mum and spends much of his time chattering away happily to anyone who will listen. He is in for a shock however when he swaps his cow for some magic beans and starts to hear a whispering in the breeze and a giant rumble in the sky.

While this story is a familiar one, production company Garlic Theatre put on interactive adaptations filled with puppets and live music aimed specifically at younger audiences.

Their approach has won them five awards in international puppet festivals, leading to international tours.

For those that prefer to get more hands on, the Centre is hosting a string of taster workshops on Friday, April 14.

At 10.45am A Field of Flowers will celebrate Spring with participants creating a huge collaborative painting. A circus skills workshops will run at several times throughout the day, providing masterclasses in tightrope walking, unicycling and juggling. Again at 10.45am, those with a gory streak can learn the art of monster make up before a series of chocolate lollipop making classes.
