A charity ball to help a teenager’s fight for sight has been organised at Egham's Runnymede Hotel.

Rose Roberts, 12, was diagnosed with an inherited condition called Stargardts disease when she was seven years old. The condition has already robbed her of her central vision and she relies heavily on her peripheral vision - meaning day to day tasks like reading the board at school or playing games with her friends can be challenging.

The charity ball will raise funds for the UK's leading eye research charity Fight for Sight and will help support specific research into Rose’s condition.

Rose lives in Woking. Her mother Tina, said: “It was incredibly hard when we received the news that Rose has an incurable condition. Since Rose's diagnosis we have supported Fight for Sight, as we believe through funding eye research they will one day find a cure for Rose and many others like her. So please purchase your tickets and help support this great cause."

The charity ball is being organised by meetings club, a review website for meetings, training, conference and events. Its founder Alison Jenkins commented: “We were delighted to be able to support such a fantastic charity that are hoping to make a difference. Rose is an incredible young girl and to be able to raise funds to help support eye research and help find a cure for Stargardts is a wonderful thing.”

Guests at the Runnymede Hotel will enjoy a welcome drink, canapés and three-course meal. They will be entertained by magician Jamie Raven, a finalist of Britain's Got Talent and female harmonists the Patriot Girls.

Tickets are £75 per person or a table of 10 for £700, email charity@meetingsclub.com. There will be a charity auction on the night and people can purchase tickets to be in with a chance of winning some luxury prizes.

Money raised from the night will be split between Fight for Sight and the Beyond Food Foundation - a charity that helps homeless people into employment.
