A FIRE CREW from the Caversham Road station was called to the Oracle Centre this afternoon (Tuesday) to free two children and two adults from a lift that had become stuck.

It was day two of the post-Christmas sales at the Oracle Centre, with general manager reporting bumper Boxing Day sales.

He reported that queues had gathered outside the Reading shopping centre before 7am on Boxing Day to bag a bargain. Some of the stores are offering discounts of up to 50 per cent.

The House of Fraser was the first store to open its shutters at 7am, with other stores following suit an hour later with queues forming outside Debenhma, Boots and Lush.

Andy Briggs said: "Boxing Day is always one of our busiest days of the year.

"We were delighted to welcome thousands of shoppers hoping to bag a bargain on the official start of the post-Christmas sales with queues from 8am this morning."
