READING Buses will be introducing a new all-night route in January.

Yellow 26 to Calcot will become the fifth all-night route as part of a series of timetable changes for the New Year.

None of the timetables has changed their overall frequency, but Reading Buses are advising customers to check what time their bus will leave their usual stop from January 2.

“Yellow 26 will be our fifth route that runs all night and is great for people living in Southcote, Beansheaf and Calcot, as well as the Bath Road, who now no longer have to worry about getting the last bus - as there isn’t one," said  Jake Osman, Marketing and Communications Manager for Reading Buses

“This new development also sees the overnight service using its normal route for every journey - currently the last three night journeys use Bath Road to return to Reading.”

Reading Buses is merging the stops EJ and EK outside the station to make one mega-stop. Claret and yellow bus 26 customers should queue from the EK stop as buses will pull forward once space becomes available.

Among other changes, the Friar Street stop FH will no longer be used by claret services. Instead, buses will stop just round the corner at West Street CU outside the old Primark store.

The company say there will also be some slight changes to the leopard 3 as buses will now visit the Bohunt School in Arborfield for certain journeys in the morning and afternoon to help get schoolchildren to their lessons.

Other changes for January include minor tweaks for bronze 11, sky blue 16, purple 17, claret 21, royal blue 33 and pink 25.

Whilst yellow 26 increases its late night buses, the pink 23/24 final two journeys of the evening on Friday and Saturdays will be withdrawn due to what Reading Buses describe as ‘very low usage.’

There will also be some very minor adjustments to the morning journeys on Little Heath school bus, LH1, and also the 981 school bus.
