A much loved member of Windsor Lions Club has died aged 84.
Harry Purchase had been a member of the Lions for 40 years - serving as president of the club three times.
The club boasts members from Windsor, Datchet, Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale.
Harry's wife Diane, who followed her husband into the Lions and became the first woman president, said: "Harry was larger than life. He made an impression on people who met him.
"He was very much the face of the Lions, as the starter at the annual horse ride in the Great Park and as MC at numerous events."
The Lions were very much a family affair - as well as his wife, Harry's son Alister and daughter Lindsay both became members.
Harry was also chairman of East Berkshire magistrates bench for 20 years.
He was a keen musician and sportsman, winning a scholarship to Wells Cathedral Choir School as a boy after being evacuated during the war.
In later years he played the piano and took up the saxophone in his 80s.
He was also a keen rower who was part of the British team at the Helsinki Olympics in 1952.
He leaves his wife Diane, son Alister, daughters Lindsay, Serena and Noami and nine grandchildren.
