AN ACTION author met students at an SL5 school last week.

Peter Jay Black visited Charters School in Sunningdale to discuss his Urban Outlaws book series, which have been described as 'action films on paper'.

The five books feature a group of children who inhabit a secret underground bunker in London; like modern-day Robin Hoods, they outsmart London’s crime gangs and hand out their dirty money through Random Acts of Kindness (R.A.K.s) to those in need.

The Year 7 students were introduced to the books’ characters which include the leader of the group Jack who likes computers, the free runner Slink, Wren who is the decoy of the group, Charlie the wiz-kid who invents the gadgets and the computer hacker Obi.

Peter told them that his love of writing stems from his constant day dreaming, and entertained the students with funny stories which highlighted this trait.

He explained that an action book is really just a book containing lots of “cool verbs” and encouraged the year group to think of the best verbs to use when describing everyday actions.

Peter said: "It was fantastic to meet and chat with the year seven children at Charters school. I thoroughly enjoyed all of their questions and not to mention their great creative writing word choices. Hope to see everyone again very soon."
