PUPILS at Charters School fell silent to pay their respects to fallen soldiers last Friday.
Staff and students congregated in their tutor groups on the astro-turf and as the clock struck eleven and Dexter Brown from Year 12 poignantly played the Last Post.
The entire school remained silent for two minutes before Dexter broke the silence by playing the Rouse.
A wreath of poppies was then laid by two Sixth Form students.
As the students returned to lessons, they passed an art installation of poppies clinging to the trees in the school’s central quad .
Chris Cook, head of history, said: "The idea of remembering those that gave their lives for our today still resonates with students despite the passing of 100 years.
"Having just learnt about the impact of the Somme it was fitting that the whole school community came together to mark Remembrance Day as a community."
