A RESIDENT from Ascot whose body was recovered from the River Thames last Sunday has been identified.
The man has been named as Barry Stewart, 68, of Church Road. His next of kin have been informed and the inquest into the cause of his death is ongoing, the Coroner's office for East Berkshire said.
Mr Stewart's body was found at Queen's Eyot Island, near Monkey Island Lane in Bray at 11am, following a report from a member of the public.
Thames Valley Police said they were treating the death as unexplained but it is not thought to be suspicious.
The fire service was called at 11.15am and one engine from Maidenhead and a water rescue unit from Reading attended the scene and recovered the body from the river.
