A MAN has been arrested in connection with a burglary in Egham last Thursday (October 6) in which a Rolex watch valued at thousands of pounds was stolen.

At around 6.50am the victim, in his 20s, woke to find two men in the bedroom of his Hummer Road residence armed with a knife.

The burglars demanded that he hand over his Hulk Rolex device, which was worth around £6,000 and had a birthday message on the back.

They made off with the watch after a struggle that left the victim with injuries to his head and hands.

A male aged 24 was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail until November 2.

Detective Constable Hannah Clarke, of North Surrey Criminal Investigation Department, described the ordeal as "terrifying".

She said: "This incident has left the victim understandably traumatised and we are determined to trace those responsible.

"The stolen watch was of great sentimental value to the owner and I am urging anybody who has seen the watch or knows of its whereabouts to get in touch with us."
