A MILK woman has been honoured for her service to the Windlesham community after helping a cyclist who broke her shoulder in an accident.

Julie Jackson was named 'Milk Hero of the Month' for her efforts in treating Zoë Riding, who was injured earlier this summer.

Ms Jackson, a supervisor at delivery firm milk&more, saw Ms Riding fall off her bike after swerving to avoid a oncoming car.

She pulled over, grabbed a warm blanket and a flask of tea from her milk float and cleaned up the victim's visual wounds.

After the incident Ms Riding wrote a message to the milk&more Facebook page, describing the passerby as a "terrific delivery lady."

The cyclist said: "I was in shock and Julie really helped amazingly.

"I had broken my shoulder and was out of action for six weeks, but her kindness and quick thinking made this horrible experience much better."

Ms Jackson, who is based at the company depot in Camberley, said: "I’m so pleased Zoë was okay in the end and that I could help even a bit.

"Being a supervisor, I’m more involved in all the rounds that go out from the Camberley depot but you learn to see the signs of when people are in trouble.

"We help when and where we can, we are a real part of the community."

Camberley depot manager Nigel Vincent said the team were very proud of Ms Jackson for her actions.

"When the lady who was injured got in touch and told us what happened, we weren’t surprised," he added.

"Julie’s a caring person and a great member of the team."
