A MOTHER-AND-DAUGHTER team from Ascot are in the running to reclaim their title at a 10,000m race next month.

Katherine Hardy and her youngest offspring Alexia Limpert-Peers finished first in the 'Generation Game' event in last year's Running4Women's 10K in Windsor.

The event, which encourages mums and daughters to run the course together, awards top prize to the combined fastest time and this year the pair want to beat their previous aggregate record of 1 hour 38 minutes.

Ms Hardy, 60, said: "I love running and always have done. Alexia and I have run 8K previously, but I was keen to take part in an event together as a family. The Running4Women’s 10K seemed like the ideal opportunity for us.

"I find 10K a great distance to run and with the park being so local to us and also so picturesque, it made sense for us to sign up!”

The dress designer extols long-distance racing as a means of inspiring women to pursue healthier lifestyles.

She added: "It’s great if you’re looking for a fun way to get active with your family, and with the added competitive element, it spurs you on."
