THREE Ascot 11-year-olds raised almost a thousand pounds between them for Cancer Research UK in a sponsored swim.
Danella Bacon and Maya Reid, from Ascot Heath CE Junior School and their friend Hannah Dores from Cheapside Primary School each finished a mile in under 45 minutes at the Heathfield pool on Sunday July 10.
The avid swimmers have raked in £900 so far with money still coming in.
Danella's mum Karen Sutton praised the girls' achievement.
She said: "Danella and Maya wanted to do something to raise money for a cancer charity as both have had family and family friends affected by cancer. They both enjoy swimming and a mile seemed like a good distance to aim for.
"The girls felt that this was a big challenge but felt very happy that they managed it and are looking forward to doing another sponsored event in the future."
