GENEROUS fundraisers in the Ascot area are determined not to leave their spectacular hairstyles edited out on the cutting room floor.

Instead they are aiming to rack up thousands of pounds for charity in hair-raising stunts to help children with cancer.

Twins Mia and Hannah Dawson teamed up with their friend Ella Andrews to donate their hair to the Little Princess Trust, which makes real wigs for children who lose theirs through cancer.

The children, all aged seven, were inspired by their teaching assistant at school who did the same and have already raised more than £600 for the cause, six times their target.

Hannah said she was excited about getting her hair cut and was happy to have grown enough to give to charity.

She added: “Children with cancer don’t need to feel embarrassed about losing their hair.”

The Dawsons’ mother Nicola was really proud of her girls for supporting a worthy cause at such a young age.

She said: “Having 12 inches of hair chopped off is a massive deal when you’re seven years old and love your hair.

“The Little Princess Trust is one of those really small charities where a small donation can actually make a big difference.

“While I desperately hope that we will never need their services, to think that a donation of either hair or money could make a horrible time slightly less horrible for a child or their parents makes me really proud to support them.”

Meanwhile Samantha Millard, 25, from the 1st South Ascot Guides, has also been getting in on the charity cutting craze.

She grew out nine and a half inches of hair which was snipped off at The Salon in Sunningdale on Saturday July 2.

The strands were donated to the Little Princess Trust while all proceeds from the fundraising will go to Children with Cancer UK.

Ms Millard is working towards the Queen’s Guide Award, which is the top achievement for her age group. As part it she has to work with a charity for a year.

So far she has raised more than £800 through JustGiving and £400 in cash.

The Girl Guide said: “Cancer is such a big thing and it has been for quite a while.

“I work with children and it is one of the most horrific things that can happen to a young person.”
