Bad feeling between the new owners of historic Wentworth Golf Club and its members remains as strong as ever amid reports that its tennis and health captain Kirill Klip had been summoned to a disciplinary hearing.

Mr Klip was appointed tennis and health captain at the recent annual meeting, when members rejected proposals by the club's new owners - Beijing owned investment company Reignwood - that they pay a £100,000 debenture along with an increased membership fee that would jump from £8,000 to £16,000.

Mr Klip subsequently presented a letter to the CEO of Wentworth Club Stephen Gibson rejecting the Reignwood proposals on behalf of the tennis and health members.

He is understood to have received a letter back from the club's lawyers accusing him of breaching club rules and by-laws by his behaviour.

This week the club released details of major improvements to the tennis and health club - with refurbishment of the tennis, fitness and spa facilities.

Major improvements have also been announced on the club's west course, including reseeding all 18 greens and a full redesign of five of them.

But the club would not comment on reports that Mr Klip had been summoned to a disciplinary hearing. A statement said: “It is a private matter between Wentworth Club and the member involved. As a result, it would be inappropriate to comment."
