Students preparing for a charity expedition to Nepal turned ACS Egham International School into an 'outdoor survival base'.
The 30 students from the school in London Road aged 14 to 17 started their overnight training by building tents in the school grounds. They also honed vital skills needed for the trip - cooking over a campfire, filling sandbags and stacking bricks. During their trip to the Kathmandu Valley later this month they will be building a playground wall, an entrance gate and a water treatment system for staff and pupils at ACS's partner Jana Bhawana School.
The students have also developed their endurance by hiking through Windsor Great Park.
Lauren Dean, lower school teacher and Project Nepal coordinator, said: “The overnight training was a huge success, the team really bonded ahead of our expedition.
“I’m really proud of the students’ teamwork over the weekend as I know this will ensure the success of our trip.”
The students have worked hard throughout the school year raising money for supplies. Fundraising events have included a dinner gala, bake sales and fun days and have raised over £1000. Over 800 books have also been collected by students to take with them to Nepal.
