A SCHOOL’S conference on teaching languages has been hailed as très bon.

On Wednesday last week, the language department at Papplewick School in Windsor Road, Ascot, hosted its second language conference on the theme of teaching accurate grammar and literacy in the modern classroom.

The objective of the day was to share good practice with teachers from across the UK. Maimouna Cissé, head of French at Papplewick, presented various ways of improving pupils’ writing skills through the use of phonemes and sound patterns while Laetitia Langue, school French teacher, presented ways to deliver grammar through interactive tools. Jeremy Ward, Papplewick head of lower school and also a French teacher, shared tips for teaching grammar and syntax from the early years, while James Smith, director of Schoolshape, attended to promote the Schoolshape Inductive Learning platform. Delegates took part in hands-on-sessions using interactive tools such as iPads and the Language Laboratory at Papplewick.

The conference was attended by school delegates from across England
