ITS three cheers for a village pub after it was named a brewer’s best in the country The Three Horseshoes, in Shepperton Road, Laleham, Surrey has been named winner in the best town/local pub category in Fuller’s annual pub of the year contest The Griffin Trophy.  The result was announced at a ceremony held at the Fuller’s Griffin Brewery, in Chiswick, on Tuesday last week.

The Griffin Trophy awards recognise the efforts and achievements of Fuller’s top managers and tenants in five categories: outstanding achievement, best city/London pub, best hotel/inn, best town/local pub, and best country/village pub.

On presenting the award to Richard Brown, director of Pearmain Pubs Ltd which runs the pub, Michael Turner, Fuller’s chairman, said: “The Three Horseshoes is very much a destination pub. Their exceptional standards in every area of the business, ensures that all customers walk away having had a great time.”

Mr Brown added: “It’s tremendous to receive this award. I’m incredibly proud of my team, especially Mike Slade, our general manager, and Duncan McLeish, our operations director, who all work tirelessly to ensure we maintain our high standards.”

“There are many alternatives to going to the pub, so we really have to make sure that our food, wine, beer and the service we provide is absolutely spot-on.”

The prize for winning the category includes a £2,000 holiday., a staff party and an engraved plaque for the pub.
