SURREY drivers are being advised to be aware of a scam in which would-be car buyers have swapped working remote key fobs with a non-functioning set in order to steal vehicles.
Detectives in West Surrey have seen two scams recently whereby high value cars which have been advertised for sale on AutoTrader had their keys substituted by visiting conmen.
Police are urging anyone selling a car either online or in traditional publications to be aware of the distraction technique.
