A CHURCH community event drew in the crowds, young and old, for its annual party.

All Souls Church, in All Souls Road, Ascot, held its Party on the Green on Sunday last week and attracted of visitors from across the village, not just regular church-goers.

A free barbecue, bouncy castle, tea and cakes as well as face painting and live music entertained guests.

Fiona Jones, part of the organising team, said: “It was brilliant, it was like a mini-festival. Last year we thought ‘should we put it on a different date because of the Red Bull Air Race’ but it had been on the Sunday for the last six years so we thought we would just stick to that day.

“It was really great, we had all these different local bands come to play and though we didn’t have any tug of war or games this year I don’t think it really mattered.”

She added her thanks to Hyn’s, a Chinese restaurant in nearby Brockenhurst Road, who supplied the power for the event and to everyone else who helped out on the day.
