AN EVENING of jazz music is heading your way as Lulo Reinhardt and his Gypsy Jazz Quartet perform at Crooked Billet this month.

Lulo learned how to play the guitar from his father and famous uncle Django when he was only five years old and will be performing in Stoke Row on Monday, September 26.

Lulo has developed the rhythmic and melodic music of his birth-right by adding in Latin and flamenco rhythms to create a dynamic combination of musical styles and emotions.

Django was also a gypsy guitarist and reinvented the performance of Jazz Music with violinist Stephane Grappelli and their Hot Club de France in the 1930s and 1940s.

Lulo will be joined on the night by Andre Krengel, from Germany, who is also one of the leading guitarists in Europe, having toured Spain, France and the USA with the likes of Leon Wilkinson.

Andre is also known as the “traveller between cultures” and “the guitar wizard with magic hands” as he finds ease in switching between styles and cultures without losing his identity and style of play.

The Crooked Billet, based in Stoke Row in Henley-upon-Thames, is owned by Paul Clerehugh, also a chef at London Street Brasserie.

The full regular menu will be on with a £15 charge to cover the music.
